Road Rules

Road Rules

There’s something about a road trip that just feels right. Windows down, snacks open, questionable playlists blasting, and absolutely no real plan besides “figure it out as we go.” Whether it’s a weekend escape or a full-blown “maybe we should just keep driving” situation, the best adventures usually start with a packed car and low expectations.

From coastlines and campgrounds to roadside diners and random small towns you never planned on stopping in, the road tends to hand out the best stories when you least expect it. But even the most reluctant adventurer knows there are a few essentials you should probably bring along—like jumper cables, a spare tire, and enough snacks to avoid a group morale collapse.

So we made a road trip checklist filled with the important stuff, the comfort stuff, and the “this might actually save the trip” stuff. Things like a solid coffee setup, a hammock you may or may not use, emergency gear, extra water, and a playlist everyone can agree on for at least 20 minutes.

Before You Hit the Road

A little preparation goes a long way—mainly because breaking down in the middle of nowhere sounds very off-brand.

  • Check your oil and fluids
  • Make sure your engine lights aren’t trying to tell you something
  • Check your tire pressure (including the spare you forgot existed)
  • Test your lights and brakes
  • Tell someone where you’re going… just in case the group chat goes silent

Road Trip Essentials

The “please don’t strand us” category:

  • Spare tire
  • Jumper cables or jump pack
  • Tire inflator + repair kit
  • Flashlight
  • Emergency kit
  • Extra water
  • Basic tools
  • Phone charger
  • Snacks (obviously)

Comfort Items (Highly Recommended)

Because suffering isn’t the vibe:

  • Coffee setup
  • Blanket or favorite pillow
  • Window covers
  • Speaker for road trip playlists
  • Sweatshirt for when it gets “surprisingly cold”

At the end of the day, road trips aren’t really about the destination. They’re about the laughs, the detours, the stories you’ll repeat forever, and the people packed into the car with you. So crack the windows, grab the snacks, and reluctantly enjoy the ride.
